Heroes Of Olympus the Blood of Olympus By Rick Riordan

Amazon.com: The Heroes of Olympus, Book Five The Blood of Olympus (Heroes of Olympus, The, Book Five) (Heroes of Olympus, The, 5): 9781423146780: Riordan, Rick: Books

Ithaca was not an ideal island vacation. As soon as the seven reunite, Reyna. Nico, and Coach Hedge take the Athena Parthenos to Camp Halfblood, their new mini quest. The seven starts on Ithaca where they landed to gather information about the enemy, Jason, Piper, and Annabeth are all disguised by the mist. On Ithaca, they meet some old friends, as well gain some new information about their treacherous journey ahead. The seven learn that to win the battle against Gaea they need to have victory on their side. Victory meaning the goddess herself, Nike. The demigods then proceed to trap Nike in the Argo II stables and continue on. Around the same time, the Athena Parthenos crew arrives in San Juan, Reyna’s hometown. There, they are very promptly ambushed by the Hunters of Artemis who take Reyna away from Coach Hedge and Nico. Reyna is then informed that she has been captured as bait for the infamous hunter Orion. Just as Orion is ambushing them, the Argo II crew is also ambushed, by a storm. Knowing that the storm was coming from below the ship, Jason and Percy very quickly plunge into the water. There, they find one of Percy’s old enemies and a battle ensues. To find out the circumstances of this battle, and the mini-quest it causes read Heroes of Olympus the Blood of Olympus.

This was a great ending to the Heroes of Olympus series. I think that the way this book was written was very good. Both the Athena Parthenos crew and the seven are on an equally important journey. Just like all the other Heroes of Olympus books this book has multiple perspectives. We also have the very first Reyna and Nico perspectives. This book went full circle and really closed off this series. It even included some references to some old characters from the Percy Jackson series. There is also some Magnus Chase and Trials of Apollo foreshadowing, see if you can find it. I think that if you have read the Percy Jackson series you can very much enjoy Heroes Of Olympus. If you haven’t read Percy Jackson yet I would recommend you read it first so you can understand Heroes Of Olympus much better. You might also want to read the first 4 Heroes of Olympus books before reading this one because it will really allow you to understand the story. If you enjoy this book consider checking out the Kane Chronicles, and Magnus Chase. You can also check out the Trials of Apollo which is the next installment in the Percy Jackson trilogy. I hope you love the Heroes of Olympus Finale. Happy Reading!

Heroes Of Olympus the House of Hades by Rick Riordan

Heroes Of Olympus, The, Book Four The House Of Hades ((new Cover)) - By Rick Riordan (paperback) : Target

There was a problem. Percy and Annabeth were in Tartarus while the rest of the seven were on the surface. Now, the team on the Argo II has to make the seemingly easy journey across from Italy to Greece to meet Percy and Annabeth at the above ground entrance to Tartarus, the House of Hades. While they do that, Percy and Annabeth have to make their way across the primordial Tartarus’s body to his heart, the doors of death the only exit of Tartarus. At the doors there is a horde of Gaea’s monster waiting to pass through to the surface. Of course, along the way they will face the worst monsters ever because all monsters go to Tartarus. Even though their journey is harder, the Argo II crew has an equally hard job. With the literal earth against them they will be fighting everything from mountain spirits to weird little dwarfs, on top of that they have to worry about the pending war between greeks and romans. Along the way they will fight many weird creatures, make many rocky alliances, reveal secrets, and unlock many new abilities. Their whole journey prepares them for their time in the House of Hades where their worst memories will arise and they will fight some mysterious new enemies. Join the 2 teams journeying to the Door of Death in this thrilling 4th book of the Heroes of Olympus, Heroes of Olympus the House of Hades.

I LOVE this book. For the first time we see the seven split up journeying to the same location. Even though there are basically 2 plots in this story they are both developed beautifully. There are 4 chapters of Leo, Jason, Piper, Hazel, or Frank. And then 4 chapters of either Annabeth or Percy. There are also quite a few characters who were in the original series you come back, Percy and Annabeth going through Tartarus and all. I think that if you have read the Percy Jackson series you can very much enjoy Heroes Of Olympus. If you haven’t read Percy Jackson yet I would recommend you read it first so you can understand Heroes Of Olympus much better. You might also want to read the first 3 Heroes of Olympus books before reading this one because it will really allow you to understand the story. If you enjoy this book consider checking out the last Heroes of Olympus book, the Kane Chronicles, and Magnus Chase. If you finish both the Percy Jackson series and the Heroes of Olympus series there is another installment in the timeline called the Trials of Apollo. This book had me laughing, crying, and screaming all at the same time and I hope you love this wonderful book as much as I loved it. Happy Reading!

Heroes of Olympus, The Mark Of Athena by Rick Riordan

Meeting new people is hard, especially when they hate you. This is exactly what happens to Annabeth, Jason, Leo, Piper, and Coach Hedge when they arrive at Camp Jupiter. After building the Argo II the crew sets off to Camp Jupiter, using Jason’s instincts to find it. After they successfully arrive at Camp Jupiter everything is well, Percy and Annabeth are reunited, Jason is reunited with his fellow praetor Reyna, and no one is fighting. Until… Leo bombs Camp Jupiter. The Romans retaliate by attacking the Greeks, Annabeth, Percy, Hazel, and Frank board the Argo II just in time, and then the crew is off and they already made 1 enemy, the people who were supposed to be their friends. After the Roman attack the Argo II is in serious need of repair so Leo lands in Detroit, Michigan. The Argo II is in serious need of some celestial bronze, after the Argo II is mostly repaired the crew heads off to Salt Lake City, Utah where Hazel senses celestial bronze. While there Hazel and Leo meet the god Nemesis who gives Leo a special gift. When the ships repairs are finished the seven head to Topeka, Kansas because Piper sees a vision of them there in her dagger. Piper, Jason, and Percy go to see Bacchus is Topeka, and a battle happens. To find out about the battle, the Argo II crew’s journey, and about Annabeth’s secret read Heroes of Olympus, The Mark Of Athena.

As with the last 2 Heroes of Olympus books, I absolutely loved this book. Son Of Neptune ends literally minutes before this book begins. I think the way the author merged together the 2 sets of demigods that were supposed to go on the Argo II was very good. I loved the tension and awkwardness between some characters, it made me love these characters even more. I also gave a more human aspect to it all. The different perspectives played a big part again. Since there were multiple different plots in this story, having the different characters’ perspectives was really great. I also loved the cliff-hanger at the end. I think that if you have read the Percy Jackson series you can very much enjoy the Heroes Of Olympus books. If you haven’t read Percy Jackson yet I would recommend you read it first so you can understand the Heroes Of Olympus books much better. If you enjoy this book consider checking out the rest of the Heroes Of Olympus series and the Kane Chronicles and Magnus Chase. If you finish both the Percy Jackson series and the Heroes of Olympus series there is another installment in the timeline called the Trials of Apollo. I 200% recommend this book. It is amazing and I hope you love reading it as much as I did. Happy Reading!

Heroes Of Olympus: Son Of Neptune By Rick Riordan

Percy has been through a lot, but not amnesia. After waking up in the middle of the bay area, with no memory at all except for a memory of someone named Annabeth and running from 2 gorgons for 6 months, Percy Jackson is torn and tired. But then, he is blessed…. With the task of carrying an old lady to a door, guarded by 2 teenagers dressed in full battle armor. Percy has been through worse, though he doesn’t know it. As he carries this old lady he notices that the 2 teenagers in armor don’t attack him, in fact when he gets closer to the door and the gorgons start getting closer to him the teenagers help him. He soon finds out that the names of the teenagers are Hazel and Frank, and that the old lady is actually Juno in disguise. Juno meaning the roman version of Hera. Percy also finds out that Hazel and Frank are from a Roman camp called Camp Jupiter also known as the Twelfth Legion Fulminita. Camp Jupiter is a place where the sons and daughters of Roman gods and humans train and live. Camp Jupiter is in New Rome which is nestled in the Berkley hills of the bay area. Also New Rome is a city where demigods can choose to grow up and lead a normal life. Percy soon meets the Praetor or leader of Camp Jupiter, Reyna. As well as Reyna, Percy meets the camp’s self-declared auger, Octavian. After getting a tour around camp from Hazel, and meeting Hazel’s step brother Nico, Percy joins the fifth cohort, the same cohort Hazel and Frank are in. The fifth cohort is considered the worst after they lost the legion’s sacred magical eagle. After Percy settles into his new home he takes part in one of the legion’s traditions, war games after dinner. Percy, Hazel, and Frank lead their cohort to victory for the first time in a long time. Shortly after the games Frank is claimed by his dad, Mars the Roman. Along with Frank being claimed, Mars also tells the legion that the god of death is chained. Mars grants Frank a quest to free the god of death so that all monsters can die. Frank decides that he wants to take Percy and Hazel on this quest, so they set off. To find out their struggles and if their quest succeeds read Heroes Of Olympus: Son Of Neptune!

I am loving the Heroes Of Olympus series so far. As I said in the book review for the lost hero I think the author did a great job with merging the Percy Jackson and Heroes Of Olympus series. I really enjoyed reading about Percy’s new quest with Hazel and Frank. It was almost as if it was his first quest again except he was with different people. Again with this book there are multiple different points of view so we get multiple different sides of the story. This is the case with all of the Heroes of Olympus books. I loved how the author really developed Percy almost as much as he did in the Lightning Thief. We also get amazing development of Hazel and Frank who are 2 great characters with very unique backstories. The author continues to really weave in greek mythology well which I love since I have taken a special interest in it since starting to read these books. I read this book in 5th grade, but I wish I read it sooner. Anyone who has read the Percy Jackson series will definitely be able to read this book. In fact, if you haven’t read the Percy Jackson series I would suggest starting with that since the Heroes Of Olympus continues on that storyline. Also, try reading the Lost Hero first so you can REALLY understand the plot of this book. If you enjoy this book consider checking out the rest of the Heroes Of Olympus as well as The Trials Of Apollo which continues of this timeline. Also check out Magnus Chase and The Kane Chronicles. I hope you love this book as much as I did! Happy Reading!

Heroes Of Olympus: The Lost Hero By Rick Riordan

Jason wakes up, with no memory. He’s on a bus with people he doesn’t even know. With him are his supposed girlfriend and supposed best friend, Piper McLean and Leo Valdez. Apparently, they go to a school for “bad kids” and are currently on a field trip to the Grand Canyon. Jason and his friends are soon placed in a weirder situation. They are attacked by some kind of storm spirits and they figure out that their chaperone gym teacher is actually a Satyr. While fighting the storm spirits Jason figures out he is able to fly, helping him save Piper and Leo. Soon after Jason, and his friends are whisked away to Camp Half-Blood by a girl named Annabeth. Annabeth tells them that she was only at the grand canyon because she had information that suggested that her missing boyfriend, Percy Jackson was there. Jason, Annabeth, Piper, and Leo all find out some secrets, the biggest of which is the fact that Hera, goddess of Heaven and Marriage stole Jason’s memory, and Hera is imprisoned. Considering the fact that Olympus has gone quiet Jason, Piper, and Leo decide to go on a quest to save Hera and get Jason’s memory back. Their main mode of travel is Leo’s newly found dragon, Festus. Their first stop is to see Boreas the north wind, the friendliest of the winds. Soon after leaving the north wind’s palace in Quebec the trio crash lands in a warehouse which they soon find out is home to 3 cyclopes. After their encounter with the cyclops, Jason and his friends wander into an underground department store where the boys are promptly seduced by the head lady there. After saving Coach Hedge and making a trade for a cage of storm spirits they continue on their journey to see Aeolus the god of wind. As their journey continues secrets are harder to keep and tensions rise for the final battle. To find out all the secrets and read more about this trio’s adventures read Heroes Of Olympus: The Lost Hero!

This was one of my favorite books. After reading the Percy Jackson series I had high expectations for this book and series. I wanted to see all of my favorite characters and places from Percy Jackson but I also wanted to be introduced to new characters who I can like just as much. This book did very much live up to those expectations. I think the author did a very good job merging the Percy Jackson and Heroes Of Olympus storylines. Keep in mind that these 2 series are supposed to be connected and share the same sort of timeline. Also, the Heroes of Olympus books have multiple different points of view, unlike the Percy Jackson Books. This adds a lot of new and interesting points of view to the story, and adds a lot of depth as well. Hope you enjoy this book as much as I did. Auggie and Me by RJ Palacio

Auggie & Me: Three Wonder Stories: Palacio, R. J.: 9781101934852: Amazon.com: Books

Auggie and Me is the sequel to Wonder. It consists of 3 different perspectives that are not in Wonder. The first perspective is Julian’s, in his section he outlines why he treated Auggie so meanly and the effects it had on his life.

The second perspective is Christopher’s. All we learn about Christopher in Wonder is that he has been Auggie’s best friend since they were born. In his section, we learn about his life in Bridgeport, Connecticut, and how being Auggie’s friend has put a lot of pressure on him and his family.

The last section is Charlotte’s section. We basically learn about her life at Beecher Prep. In her section, we also get to learn more about Summer and Ximena.

My personal favorite section is Charlotte’s because it shows us more about Ximena and the pressure put on Summer because she is Auggie’s friend. I am actively reading this book in 5th grade, but I would say anyone who has read Wonder can enjoy this book. I hope you check out Auggie and Me! Happy reading!

Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan

Percy Jackson is not normal. For one, he has dyslexia and ADHD. When he tries to read, the letters move. He also can’t seem to sit still. Percy was going to school at Yancy Academy. He had been expelled from 6 schools in the last 6 years. Everything was going pretty well at Yancy, Percy had not been expelled yet, he even had a best friend Grover Underwood. But, on a school field trip, everything changes. The math teacher chaperone Mrs.Dodds turns into some kind of demon. Percy soon finds out that he is a half-blood, half-human, half-god. So, Percy journeys with Grover (who turns out to be a satyr a.k.a he’s a goat waist down) to Camp Half-Blood. Camp Half-Blood is the only safe place for half-bloods. The camp is where the children of a Greek god and a mortal go to learn how to defend themselves from monsters. At camp, you learn how to sword fight, how to ride pegasi, how to use a bow and arrow, and much much more. Soon after Percy arrives at camp he meets Annabeth, daughter of Athena, and Luke, son of Hermes. He also meets the supervisors of the camp Mr. D (a.k.a the Greek god Dionysus) and Chiron. Percy is soon claimed by his godly parent, Poseidon. But, there is a problem with that. After WWII Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades swore to never sire another half-blood. So, Percy shouldn’t have been born. On top of that, Zeus’s master bolt has been stolen, and Zeus believes Percy stole it. Percy is granted a quest to get the master bolt back and prove his innocence. To see if he succeeds read the thrilling first book of the Percy Jackson series, Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief!

I really enjoyed this book. It also got me obsessed with Greek mythology. I think Rick Riordan did a great job merging together Greek mythology and the modern world. This first book really hooked me in and as soon as I finished reading I wanted to read the next book. I read this book in 5th grade but I think any kid 3-5 grade can read this book. If you enjoyed this book consider checking out the rest of the Percy Jackson series. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did. Happy reading!

The Christmas Pig by JK Rowling

The Christmas pig is a really great story for anytime of year. The Christmas Pig is a story about a boy named Jack. Jack has a favorite stuff toy called Dur pig or DP. But, one day DP is thrown out the car window by  Jack’s step sister Holy. So, Jack is furious and has the worst ever temper tantrum. But, all of this happens on Christmas Eve, and everyone knows that Christmas Eve is a night for miracles and magic. So, when Jack wakes up in the middle of the night and he finds out that some of his toys can talk, but only on Christmas Eve.  Well, specifically the pig that Holy gave him to replace DP. This new pig is called Christmas pig or CP. CP convinces him to go to the land of the lost to find DP. The land of the lost is where things go when you lose them. For example, when your parents lose their car keys and they don’t seem to find them anywhere, the car keys are in the land of the lost. Well, not actually the physical car keys. Just the soul or spirit of the car keys, so that they can still find the car keys. The land of the lost is filled with all sorts of things, toys, books, car keys, forgotten school assignments, and even feelings. The land of the lost is ruled by the loser, the loser eats any things who end up in the wastes of the unlamented. The wastes of the unlamented are where things go when they aren’t loved any more. Jack and CP venture into the land of the lost and go through the 4 cites while they are there – Disposable, Bother-It’s-Gone, the city of the Missed, and The island of the Beloved. Along their journey to find DP Jack and CP meet many things both good and bad to them. In the end, someone is sacrificed, but not who you would think. If you want to find out who and read about the adventures of Jack and CP read The Christmas Pig!

I really enjoyed reading this book. I think it is super imaginative and cool. The way JK Rowling crafted the characters just makes them so lovable. The friendship between Jack and CP is a really nice arc. In the beginning Jack hated CP because he was all new and he was a replacement for DP. But, throughout the story Jack begins to love CP as much as he loves DP. That’s why I really think that the fact that DP smells all old and worn and CP smells all new is a metaphor. DP smelling old and worn basically means he is well loved, whereas CP smelling new means that he is not very played with which means he is not loved. I read this book in 5th grade but I would say that it is okay for anybody 7 and older. If you like this book you should definitely check out JK Rowlings famous Harry Potter Series, the only other book that I have ever read that was like this is probably the Bridge to Terabithia. Happy Reading!

Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Paterson

Jesse Aarons life was perfect. During the summer between 4th and 5th grade something changed though. Leslie Burk moved into the old Perkins place don the road. Leslie was not like the other girls in town. She wore a tank top and torn jeans everyday. Jesse had practiced all summer so that he could be the fastest kid in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades. But, when the races began on the first day guess who beat him? Leslie. Day after day Leslie beat all the boys. So much so that after 1 week no one was racing anymore. But, soon after Leslie wrote something for school that was so invigorating to Jesse that he decided he had to make friends with Leslie. So, Jesse and Leslie went into the woods near their houses and founded a kingdom called Terabithia. They ruled Terabithia together. Then at Christmas they even got a dog prince named Prince Terrien. But, a few months after Christmas Leslie died taking the magic of Terabithia with her.

This book is very interesting. The book is really a realistic fiction book but within the story there is a fantasy of Terabithia. The title comes into play only at the end of the book which encourages the reader to continue reading. I really enjoyed reading it and it was very good story through to the end. This book is inspired by something that happened to the author’s son so you can really feel the emotion throughout the book. I read this book in 5th grade but I think that anyone 3 grade and older can enjoy this book. If you want to check Bridge to Terabithia out click here!

Fast Pitch is a very good book. It is realistic fiction and could probably actually happen in real life. It represents the struggles of an all black team and highlights the friendships that can be made through team sports. Personally, I would consider this as a mystery, action, realistic fiction book. Because I was very excited to read it from the beginning. I think this is a good read from ages 7 and up as long as you know softball. Happy reading!
