Counting by 7’s by Holly Goldberg Sloan

Counting by 7’s is a book about a girl whose parents die in a car crash. This girl has to uproot her whole life and move in with a friend she just met. The girl’s name is Willow Chance. Willow is different, she is smart and I mean very smart.  She is very interested in plants and medical conditions. She goes to live with her friend Mai. Unfortunately, Mai lives in a garage. So they borrow an apartment from Mai and Willow’s counselor. This story shows how one tragic event can change your whole life. Depending on how you see the situation it can be good or bad. If you want to find out what happens next, go read Counting by 7’s today!

I like this book because it is entirely possible this could happen to some kid in real life. It also teaches life lessons like how not to take what you have for granted. This story has been given lots of life with the multiple different characters and how they either help Willow on her journey, or Willow helps them, or even both. The way this story highlights the struggles of an adopted child is what I love about this book the most. Hope you enjoy reading it as much as I did! 🙂

Ps. I read this at the age of 10 almost 11 🙂
